Senior Sales Manager – Corporate, Government and Replacement (National) – Gauteng based

The purpose of the position is to formulate and implement functional strategies to deliver organic sales growth, customer base expansion and increase in market share through acquisition of profitable new business. Lead and manage people, process, systems and pricing to achieve channel targets. Ensure that sales budgets are achieved 

Technical:  Ensure that revenue and growth targets are met for the portfolio.  Achieve accurate demand forecasting to ensure the business is optimally prepared to capitalize on opportunities and meet targets and commitments.  Grow the customer base through strategic account planning and reviews.  Manage the sales pipeline and relevant activity levels in order to achieve revenue targets and forecasted growth targets.  Formulate and implement sales strategies to generate forecasted revenue and to develop and exploit new market opportunities.  Drive the implementation and maintenance of multi-level customer relationships to ensure customer retention.

Strategy, Leadership & Management:  Direct, plan, organise and lead sales.  Active and visible leadership and employee engagement through the team ranks.  Responsible for jointly setting strategic direction and the execution of strategic business plans into measurable business outcomes.  Development of the sales management team against defined succession plans/strategy.  Lead and develop a high performing sales team and culture of accountability at all levels; always with the customer line of sight

Competencies:  Communication  Strategic vision and ability.  Tactical Sales Management, including customer focus, sales processes, lifecycles, best practice etc.  Strong business and financial acumen.  General management including solid understanding of finance, IR and people coaching, hiring, performance management, retention; marketing, business analysis, strategic development and planning, budgeting, and integration between business functions and systems.  Able to overcome resistance to change and take unpopular decisions when necessary.  Critical thinking and comfortable with complexity/ambiguity.  Negotiation skills and a thorough understanding of big business procurement requirements.  Ability to deal objectively and effectively with multiple tasks on a national level.  Able to maintain and develop a high level of company and competitor product and services knowledge.  Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; proven ability to lead and build team capabilities.  Proven ability to meet deadlines.  Experience at effectively presenting information to an executive level.  Service orientation/ Customer focus.  Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels.  Ability to deal objectively and effectively with multiple tasks on a national level.  Able to maintain and develop a high level of company and competitor product and service knowledge.  Attention to detail  Proven ability to lead and build team capabilities.  Proven ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure. 

Minimum Qualification & Requirements:

Degree (NQF7) in business management or other required; MBA or similar advanced degree highly desired.

Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a Senior Sales Management capacity.

Proven track record of achieving results in sales.

Minimum 6 years of people management experience.

Valid Code 8 driver’s license required. Driver and Vehicle Restrictions on the driver’s license must be declared at application stage.

Travel required if and when necessary

Computer literate: Intermediate to Advanced level of proficiency with Word/Excel/Outlook required.
