The successful candidate will plan, direct, or coordinate the warehouse and distribution operations within a site. Duties will include, but not limited to; deal with the majority of situations and to advise others, supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes
Duties:
Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials. Plan, develop, or implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities. Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials. Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments. Track and trace goods while they are en route to their destinations, expediting orders when necessary. Develop storage and distribution models that include factors such as warehouse locations, customer locations, or available transportation modes to maximize operational efficiency or sustainability. Prepare and manage departmental budgets. Evaluate locations for new warehouses or distribution networks to determine their potential usefulness. Interview, select, and train warehouse and supervisory personnel. Prepare or direct preparation of correspondence, reports, and operations, maintenance, and safety manuals. Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, records control, or purchasing. Arrange for storage facilities when required. Evaluate contractors or business partners for operational efficiency or safety or environmental performance records. Evaluate freight or inventory costs associated with transit times to ensure that costs are appropriate. Develop or implement plans for facility modification or expansion, such as equipment purchase or changes in space allocation or structural design. Develop or implement plans for storage and distribution activities that emphasize technological solutions for sustainability, such as investment in smart or ecofriendly containers, dynamic distribution networks, warehouse renovations, or fuel efficient fleets. Schedule or monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products or materials. Plan or implement environmental training programs and activities
Job Competencies:
Manage the transportation of goods and supplies for a large organization using existing procedures; review and recommend improvements to procedures to ensure on-time delivery of goods and supplies.
Outgoing goods:
Improve the packaging process by developing an understanding of packaging needs and ideas for prototypes.
Incoming Goods:
Lead and manage large complex warehouse(s) and stores, reviewing current procedures and develop new procedures when required to ensure all goods and supplies are stored and recorded appropriately. Inventory Manage and recommend improvements to the delivery of part of the organization’s inventory control program to identify any issues and solve problems. Sourcing Collect and analyse the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers for a medium-risk area with some alternatives/medium costs of changing, in consultation with relevant functions to provide solid market information for decision making.

Carry out operational tasks by following established processes. Involves working within given settings or parameters.
Performance Management:
Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance. Monitor the performance of the team; allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality; contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
Budgeting:
Track budgets and report variances to more senior colleagues.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote stakeholder understanding and commitment.

Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain Management
Tertiary Qualification in Chemical Engineering Advantageous
